Fifty years
of excellence.

From McCullough High School to The Woodlands, the band has earned top ratings and national honors across every part of the program for five decades.

One program, four disciplines, five decades of excellence.

The program traces its roots to McCullough High School; when the school moved and became The Woodlands High School in 1996, the band carried its tradition forward. Across fifty years it has consistently earned top ratings and awards in all aspects of the program, concert band, marching band, percussion and color guard alike.

Four Disciplines

Excellence across the program

Marching Band

A consistent UIL State Marching Contest Finalist and Bands of America Regional, Super Regional and Grand National Finalist. The band made UIL State finals at every appearance from 2010–2022 and has not missed a BOA Finals since the late 1990s, culminating in the 2013 BOA Grand National Championship.

Color Guard

The guard fields a fall Color Guard with the marching band and two Winter Guards each spring, one of the leading programs in Texas and the country. In 2022 the World Guard became the first Texas team ever to medal at WGI World Championships; in 2025 they won it outright.

Concert Bands

All three concert bands earn Superior ratings at UIL Concert & Sight-Reading every year. The Wind Ensemble has been a featured ensemble at the Midwest Clinic twice (2003 and 2012), and has performed at the Western Band Clinic, Disneyland and Carnegie Hall.

Percussion

The Percussion Studio of 30–40 musicians marches as one section in the fall and splits into four ensembles each spring, capped by an ensemble concert. TWHS Percussion was a featured ensemble at the 2014 Percussive Arts Society International Convention.
