Every October, the best bands in Texas come to us.
Lone Star Preview is the marching contest hosted by the TWHS Band & Guard, a full day of preliminary and finals performances that gives bands an early-season look at their competition, and gives our community a front-row seat to the marching arts.
It’s also one of the program’s largest fundraisers, run almost entirely by parent volunteers. Every ticket, program ad, and concession sale goes straight back to the students of The Woodlands.

From the ticket gate to the concession stand to guiding buses in, hosting Lone Star Preview takes hundreds of volunteer shifts, and it’s one of the easiest and most fun ways for TWHS Band Booster parents and alumni to pitch in. No experience needed, and every hour goes straight back to our students.
